Because public libraries are locally funded, those living outside a particular political subdivision have typically had to purchase cards to gain borrowing privileges from neighboring libraries, but recently signed interlocal service agreements among six Northern Utah cities and counties have changed all that and opened the doors to better service.

Interlibrary loan service is essential to the vitality of libraries of all types and sizes as a means of greatly expanding the range of materials available to users. Lending between libraries is in the public interest and should be encouraged.
Finding information online is often a matter of knowing the best place to start. The categories below include outstanding free websites, plus all of the Library's subscription online research databases. These databases provide access to quality information sites that are not available on the "free" Internet and may be searched in a variety of ways: keyword, subject, author, date, publication title, etc. Access to the research databases has been purchased by the Weber County Library or purchased in cooperation with the Utah State Library. Free access to these resources is available at all library locations. Most of these resources are also available to library card holders who have home Internet access.
Play is much more than just fun and games, it's the work of children. It gives them the opportunity to expand their knowledge and build skills, further their understanding of themselves and their environment, satisfy their need for aesthetic experiences, and develop pride in their heritage and appreciation of other cultures. It stands to reason that if play is the work of children, then toys are the tools of their trade.
In keeping with its mission to provide learning resources for people of all ages, the Weber County Library has an in-depth collection of educational toys appropriate for children from infancy through their elementary years. While a few of the toys must be used in the library, most may be taken home.
The Library loans toys that:
- Appeal to a child's natural curiosity;
- Teach an important concept or skill;
- Avoid stereotypes and are gender neutral;
- Are too expensive for an average family to own;
- May not be available in local stores;
- Encourage children to work independently;
- Give children an opportunity to interact with others.
Toys are selected to be age-appropriate for children and include everything from rattles to scientific instruments.
